How A Safety Kit For Emergency Hygiene And Sanitation Can Save Lives

Emergency hygiene and sanitation kits may not appear to be important to a lot of people. In a time of crisis, there are more important things to worry about, like where you are going to get your supply of clean food and water or shelter. So spending time to think about where you are going to find things to clean yourself with or where to properly dispose your wastes seem too trivial. But if you are one of the people who think this way, you can never be more wrong.

During emergencies, your survival does not only depend on food and water, but also in keeping yourself clean and sanitary. Remember that many people get sick and even die in evacuation camps that do not have proper waste disposal systems. Keeping yourself clean and making sure that your wastes, such as stool and urine, are properly disposed of can prevent the spread of diseases and infections.

When preparing for a natural disaster like an earthquake or hurricane, always remember to put together a hygiene kit. An identical sanitation kit should be kept inside the van, recreational vehicle or automobile. This type of clean kit will come in handy any time the family embarks on a road trip or goes camping. Children especially have a hard time when it comes to controlling the urge to use the restroom. Many become queasy with motion sickness and may have to vomit. Being able to handle such a situation is imperative.

There are several items that are mandatory for inclusion in a germ kit designed to address emergency hygiene. Most of them are the everyday items typically found in a bathroom. Think about all the various supplies that are used on a daily basis. Make sure to include plenty of toilet paper, facial tissues, deodorant, a toothbrush for each member of the family, shampoo, body soap and some toothpaste. An emergency toilet is a good item to bring along on a family camping trip. Purchase some toilet bags for sanitary waste disposal and self-heating cloths and include those in the hygiene package.

Although you can make your own emergency hygiene and sanitation kit, you really do not have to. There are a lot of kits available in the market. We can help see our "Hygiene and Sanitation" category on our web site and click on these kits on our home page. Surely, you will find one that would fit your needs and that of your family.
