Types Of Drain Tube After Surgery

Suction is a way used by medics to remove fluids that tend to build in the body. These fluids may be a caused by and infection, injury or after an operation. There are several types of drain tube after surgery have each a basic suction with a tubing, a collection bag and a suction may be optional.

A Penrose is a surgical device that is usually placed in wounds to be able to remove the fluid to avoid infection by giving the bacteria a culture to grow in and also lead to quicker wound healing. It is consisted of rubber tubing and suction devices that allow one to offer the suction power into the wound. It was named after a famous gynecologist called Charles Bingham Penrose.

They have the chest drain which has many other names like the chest tube or the thoracic catheter. It is usually used to get rid of fluids specifically in the thoracic cavity. It employs the use of rubber tubing that is tucked inside the chest into the pleural cavity. It can be used to remove air that is causing the decompression of the cavity, any blood if one is bleeding or chyle, a fluid found in the thoracic cavity. It helps ease up breathing for the patient and can be a way of treating certain diseases.

The Jackson-Pratt drain is a round tube or a flat hollow pipe that is normally connected to a suction device. It works through compressing the bulb which generates suction which acts as negative pressure. The negative pressure in turn helps suck out the fluids from the body.

The black remove is consisted of around silicon tube that has channels that can be able to collect the liquids. They are usually collected by capillarity action where the liquids trickle into the open channels freely. These tubes lead to other closed channels that help deliver the fluid by either the fluid pressure of suction.

The negative wound therapy is the type of draining that is used for major surgeries, trauma and the non healing wound. Because it normally is therapy, it takes quite sometimes but has any visible effects. The therapy helps in the removal of body fluids that could be infectious if left to stay. This helps in hastening the healing process for it encourages tissue granulation on it.

The pigtail remove is also another way to remove the liquids from a wound or the internal body parts. The pigtail drain usually has a small rumen like curled shape that is formed by the rubber tubing. It is used to remove the fluids from a cavity. It uses the passive pressure where the flow is free without ant suction. The curved section usually keeps off any air from flowing back which can be dangerous and cause infections.

The redivac drain is a common remove but the difference is that it uses a high amount of negative pressure to drain the fluids. It is likely to be used in those parts of the body where is hard to suction any fluids or those areas that happen to be with thick and viscous fluids, like in lymph-suction to removal the fatty tissue in some ones body.
