Endotracheal Tube is an urgent method that is usually performed on individuals who cannot breathe or unconscious. This procedure keeps the airways open and prevents possible suffocation. The patient will be given first with an anesthetic. Once done, a plastic and flexible pipe is inserted to your trachea through the nose or mouth to help a patient breathe.

Typically, the trachea is composed of tough cartilage, muscle, and some connective tissues. The primary lining is also composed of a smooth tissue. Therefore, every time you breathe, the windpipes also get longer and wider. Its size will return once you breathe out. Aside from that, you may also experience difficulty breathing when trachea is blocked or damaged. This is the reason why endotracheal tube with subglottic suction is so important.

This procedure is done for several reasons. It is used in opening the airways so you may receive a specific medication and oxygen in protecting the lungs. Also, once you have a hard time breathing on your own, you might undergo this process. If you meet an accident and get head injuries or damage, then you may need this machine to breathe.

EL makes the airway open properly. This will then allow oxygen to enter through the ways. Just like other procedures, EL also comes with possible risks. In many cases, you will be under anesthesia upon the execution of the process. This only means that you might fall into a deep sleep once the intubation process is done. Healthy patients often do not have problems with anesthesia but there is a small possibility of a long term complication.

Some possibilities will depend on the health of the patient. There are specific things that may increase the chances of such risks. If you have a history of getting reactions to anesthesia, then you are also at risk. If you experience problems with your heart, kidney and lungs, it is not recommended for you. Smokers are also at risk.

There are also some serious risks which may happen among older adults who have medical problems. Though some issues are rarely to happen, they may experience lung infections, stroke, and mental confusions and even death. Typically, some patients are fully aware during the process but do not feel any pain.

Keep in mind that there are also some intubation risks. These include bleeding and collapsed lungs. An anesthesiologist will first check you prior to the operation to prevent serious complications from elevating. You will also be evaluated throughout the process. EL is often done in the clinic or hospital. After the process, you may suffer from swallowing problem but this is only for A temporary basis.

There are chances that patients may experience serious effects after the method. You only have to make sure to call the doctor if anything happens to you or if symptoms start to happen. These include chest pain, face swelling, and even sore throat. Most of these signs might need immediate treatments.

Knowing these things is important for you to be fully aware on the effects and remedies you can get from it. This would also help you determine what certain things to prepare and should be avoided to make it a success and receive the best remedy.
