Why Is Wisdom Tooth Surgery Essential?

There are instances in a person's life which are unpredictable, one of which is the eruption of one's wisdom tooth. The genetic composition of men and women is expected to result in the expected eruption of 32 permanent teeth. This is not impossible. But, based on current scientific along with anthropological research, variations mainly in the jawbone structure of humans started to become evident due to the evolution of man along with the introduction of the different advancements in technology.

In accordance to the observations, it was observed that the prehistoric man's jawbone was able to accommodate all 32 teeth. This was because of the size, and according to theory, they used their jaws in their day to day activities including hunting and self-defence making it larger and more powerful; as opposed to the contemporary man's jaw which has become a lot smaller. Based on theories, it was the result of innovations that stopped the necessity to hunt for food; thus, resulting to smaller jaws that are incapable to accommodate all 32 teeth, especially the wisdom tooth.

Nowadays, experts in the field of dentistry are already trying to adjust with the current situation which involves the wisdom teeth. Because of the unavailable space, the wisdom tooth tends to experience problems like impaction. Hence, it's already very difficult for dentists and individuals to care for teeth. One alternative being promoted nowadays is to subject one's self to wisdom tooth surgery; read along in order to get a preview of its benefits.

1. It aids in the reduction of tooth decay incidence for the reason that the wisdom tooth is positioned at the deepest portion of the oral cavity which is tricky to brush and floss.

2. It decreases the incidence of periodontal diseases which is caused by bacterial proliferation around the gums supporting the wisdom tooth.

3. It lowers the possibility of aggravating other bodily diseases like stroke and respiratory ailment for the reason that oral problems like gum disease has been found to ignite the said health issues. Thus, it increases the need for dentists to extract wisdom teeth.
