The common characteristics of this condition include inflammations, reddening of skin, flaking, itching and swelling. Lots of people will mistake this type of eczema with dandruff due to the flakiness of skin from the head. Those that are afflicted by this disorder typically feel self-conscious since it is very hard to hide the afflicted part.

A lot of signs and symptoms are associated with the condition. While the symptoms will not be the same in two sufferers, the popular ones include itchiness, burning sensation, irritation, redness, lesions, sore spots, oily scalp and hair loss as a result of ongoing scratching on the scalp.

If newborns are infected with this condition, it is named cradle cap. It is short-term, noncontagious and not health threatening. The newborn can have signs or symptoms for example dark excess skin that will appear thick and crusty. Mothers should not be stressed when they find out their kids with signs of cradle cap. They should understand that the scalp condition is not a hypersensitive reaction and neither is it harmful. However, it may be important to stop the children from scratching their scalp simply because the more they rub it, the more will the skin get damaged. Aggressive touching may also result in bleeding and as a consequence mild bacterial infections.

Despite the fact that the fundamental trigger of the problem is not identified, it is considered that it originates from skin oil overproduction and also inflammation from a type of fungus which is called malassezia. Most health specialists have discovered that this condition may be inherited down through the family line. Several other possibilities are neural disorders for example Parkinson's disease, brain injuries and stroke. Human immunodeficiency virus has also been recognized to add the chances of having the issue.

There are many elements that will increase the chance of getting the condition. Such factors are oily skin, extreme weather conditions, bacterial contamination, fatigue, hormonal instability, obesity, skin disorders, infrequent shampooing and anxiety.

Skin care products and shampoos containing substances such as selenium, ketoconazole and corticosteroids are often helpful for treatment method. Separating hair into small segments to wash and gently massage the head can be more effective.

Different forms of treatment procedures include applying natural oils such as tea tree oil, lavender oil, olive oil, flax seed oil and hemp oil. It has been recently proved that there is a direct link between yeast and scalp eczema. Because of this, individuals affected with this condition are advised to avoid consuming processed sugars, saturated sugars and bread products. Eating a healthy balance diet could also help to remove the issue.
