When it comes to cancer of any type, there is attention that should be given and rightfully so. Keep in mind that the growths that are connected to tumor research are some of the most complicated and I do not think that anyone will be able to say differently on the matter. That being said, what is some of the best work that can be done on the part of researchers, you may wonder? Amongst the various details that can be looked at, early detection deserves so much focus.
Keep in mind that brain tumors are not ones which are exclusive to any one group. It doesn't matter what gender someone is or how old they are because these seem to come about without any clear cause. One may be able to chalk this up to genetics while someone else may consider radiation but the truth of the matter is that there is nothing conclusive that can be made. All that can be done, though, is screening so that these growths may be found as early as possible.
An article on Huffington Post went into detail about World Wrestling Entertainment and its partnership with Susan G. Komen in order to raise breast cancer awareness. What struck me as interesting were the comments made by John Cena, who is seen by many as the poster child of sorts for WWE. Cena said that there was a more personal connection to this partnership that made him want to help that much more. To him, it was about helping a condition that impacted his family when he was younger.
According to the article, Sean was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor when he was young and required treatment for it. Keep in mind that remedies in tumor research, at least those in the long term, are few and far between, which is why work is done consistently on the matter. It is fortunate, though, that the growth was found early on and Cena believed that it saved Sean's life. Early detection is vital, as you can see, and organizations such as Voices against Brain Cancer can agree.
It's amazing what those in any form of entertainment are able to do in order to help raise awareness for a condition that, in my mind, deserves far more attention. WWE has taken a stand against breast cancer and everything from pink t-shirts for wrestlers to even a pink middle rope in the ring goes to show that support has been given to the matter. Cena's story is a strong one that deserves more press, too. More than anything else, it displays the effectiveness that comes with early detection.
