Having symptoms of having several cauliflower or solid blister-like warts is called verrucose. To get rid of more severe cases of this, you can seek warts laser treatment. These lumps are usually located on hands or feet, and are caused normally by one of the many types of different human papilloma viruses.

Since these swellings are due to viral infections, they are contagious. The most common varieties among the 10 varieties of warts are usually the most harmless. The infection enters through areas of broken skin, and can last from a few months to years. Uniquely, these swellings can actually reoccur after years of disappearance.

A wart can vary in size and shape, where it occurs, and what type of human papilloma virus it is. There are about 130 known varieties of the human papilloma virus. It infects the squamous epithelium tissues, usually on your skin or genitals. However usually, different types of HPV can infect specific parts of the body.

The most common HPV varieties that cause infectious warts and papilloma in some areas are usually benign. They also show common characteristics when you look at them through a microscope. You might see hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, thickening of the stratum granulosum, evidence of large blood vessels at the dermoepidermal junction, and rete ridge elongation as well.

Doctor's offices and clinics will tell you that there are many different ways and procedures to treat warts. In more extreme cases, laser surgery may be required to burn them off with light beams or lasers. However, there is a chance that the lumps in those areas might reappear even after they are destroyed.

You might be put under a local anesthetics during laser surgery, depending on the area and amount of warts. The treated area will be painful for a couple of days afterwards. However, keep in mind that the overall recovery time will depend on where on your body and the amount of swellings that are burned off.

If after surgery you have bleeding lasting more than a week, fever, bad-smelling, severe pain, or yellowish discharge; call your doctor. This might indicate that you have an infection in the area. You should also regularly clean the wound to prevent any infection.

It's imperative to understand when laser surgery is needed. This last resort is considered when all other medication has failed to remove the growths, they are very large and widespread, or if they need to be removed due to a pregnancy. The doctor in charge will let a pregnant patient know when or if surgery might be necessary.

There's always a slight risk of infection after surgery. Keep the signs in mind like increase pain, swelling or redness, tenderness in the area, excessive heat, red streaks dispersing from that area, pus discharge, and high fever. The good thing about laser surgery is that there's usually no scarring afterwards, only requires a local anesthetic, and is only needed for large and difficult warts. However, it is a lot pricier than other ways to treat warts, and is extreme enough not to be recommended as the initial treatment.
