When people talk about ceiling track systems they are most likely referring to those systems which can be used in a care environment to facilitate the straightforward and safe transferral of individuals from one destination to another. These systems are ideal for use in places that space is limited and can be utilised within care homes, hospitals within private homes as well as in a bariatric environment to assist support staff when moving people around.

A ceiling track system can either be fixed or portable. More than likely you will find that the fixed varieties are utilised within hospitals or care homes where there is always the need to move patients around. The portable varieties may be more commonly used as a temporary or emergency solution, perhaps in the home if someone is taking care of a relative, or within a hospital or other care environment where the rooms may be also needed for other purposes and thus having fixed lifting equipment might not be feasible.

Ceiling track systems are utilised with a combination of patient slings and hoists to provide the entire lifting and mobility solution for all those individuals who cannot move around on their own. They may be used temporarily for patients who are in rehabilitation or can be used on a permanent basis for those managing a long term disability.

Patient slings can be purchased in a wide range of different varieties to suit all requirements. You can choose from quick fit slings that are general purpose slings available in small, medium and large sizes and are suitable as a general purpose sling. Or, you can opt for a padded sling with head support which is invaluable to facilitate the toileting process. Most slings will be compatible with the ceiling track system that you choose.

When the need to care for someone either at home or in a hospital or another care environment, getting all of the support you can and having the right equipment available to not only keep the patient comfortable and maximise mobility, but also make your job easier will be incredibly important.
