Back Pain And Learning To Treat It

----------------------------------------------

By Bob Nagidul

More and more back pain sufferers are coming into hospitals around the country. While this is one of the leading causes of emergency room visits for adults, people sometimes do not look at the numbers for the youth in our hospitals. Many kids under 18 are coming into emergency rooms complaining of back and neck pain.

This is a growing concern because of the fact that there is no solid treatment for this ailment. Sure, they can be given medication for the discomfort but no one can prescribe that for extended periods of time. In addition the medication does not treat anything but the symptoms. The doctors want to get to the root cause and fix it so the discomfort will go away all together.

People in this country go to the emergency room for too many simple ailments it is said. This is another reason that reports claim high numbers of complaints for back pain. Although this is the case there is no reason or no way to say that any of the complaints are not real because it is too hard to determine the root cause.

This can bring frustration and anger. There are even cases where a patient might decide that no matter how much discomfort they are suffering, they do not want to be looked upon like a possible criminal so they just stop going to the doctor. Of course this brings with it other issues too because then there is obviously no treatment being done.

This has made doctors doubt and second guess their own diagnosis and in some cases they have even turned away people complaining of back pain because the doctor thought they might be lying. They are within their right to make that judgement but it happens way too often. In America this has caused a stirring controversy.

Even so, one thing remains, their pain and discomfort. The doctors who treat these patients are going to have a tougher time in the coming years because of growing regulations. The government is stepping in more and more and by the time the next 10 or 15 years rolls around things may be completely different from how they are currently.

All of that because people started to abuse the medications. Back pain continues to be a problem for millions of people. It does not matter how many people lie about it to get drugs, there are still many people who are truly suffering and now they have a much harder time because a few people want to get high.
