You should not comment on how they look. Most of these persons are already aware of their weight and they do not want to be reminded again of how they look. You should also not try to compliment them, as well, since they will only be more obsessed with their body image and their weight.

You should never demand that they change almost immediately. If you do, they will try to rebel and will not try to help themselves. This change may take time and should be done on their own terms. If they try to change immediately, it may cause adverse effects on their health, instead.

You need to encourage them to manage their emotions in a healthy way. You need to provide encouragement to these people as that is the most that they need. It will power them to change and treat themselves from these disorders.

Numerous clinics as well as hospitals offer their services to these patients at varying fees. The treatments could be including support groups, therapy, residential treatments, and counseling. The negative emotions of these patients will be overcome through the help of numerous medical professionals that are specialists in this field, as well.

Hospitalization may be needed in cases where the person is already dangerously malnourished, severely depressed and is already suicidal, suffering from complications, and getting worse even if he is undergoing treatments.
