The natural estrogen, named as Estriol is produced significantly during a pregnancy and is formed in the fetus by liver of a pregnant woman. The Estriol plays an important role as it verifies the pregnancy of a woman by her blood and urine and is further used for screening if the pregnancy is confirmed. The abnormal level of Estriol indicates that the fetus of a woman is facing some problem and need to be advanced screening and tests. This is the reason that doctors recommend a routine quad screen to the pregnant women to make certain the normal development.

There are several uses of Estriol creams as they are quite common among people and considered as a non toxic way to lessen certain symptoms related to menopausal and pre-menopausal. Some of the common symptoms are hot flashes and vaginal dryness among women. Some famous researchers find out that if a pregnant woman has multiple sclerosis, Estriol helps to lessen the symptoms of this disease remarkably.

The Estriol's strong point or flaw is totally dependent on the extent of severity and persistent while given to infantile animal. On the other hand, if it is given with the estradiol, it can also serves as an antagonist. The Estriol also play its role in the growth of breast cancer but act as an antagonist to the G-protein coupled estrogen receptor at the same time. It does not usually increase the risk of hormone-dependent cancers of the breast or endometrium among women. The use of Estriol for therapeutically purpose is also confirmed by most of the researchers.

The use of Estriol in screening cannot be neglected as it can be measured in the blood or urine of a pregnant woman and can be used as an indicator of her fetal health and safety. The adrenal cortex of a fetus of mother produces DHEA-S that is converted to Estriol by the mean of placenta.

If a pregnant woman has abnormal low level of unconjugated Estriol, it states the existence of chromosomal or congenital anomalies in her. The common anomalies can be Edward's syndrome or Down syndrome. The Estriol also comprises along with the triple test and quadruple test to monitor for any fatal anomalies appropriately.

The Estriol also has some side effects like other forms of estrogen. Firstly, it might increase the risk of uterine cancer as it results in the simulation of growth of uterine tissues. According to a research, the women given Estriol orally had more uterine tissue simulation as compared to those who are not given any Estriol.

Some researches claim that Estriol do have some side effects like many types of estrogen. The major one is that raise the risk of uterine cancer due to the recreation of growth of uterine tissues. So, the women given Estriol orally are proved to be having more uterine tissue simulation against those that are not given Estriol. In short, there are many defensive effects are proved for the Estriol against other stronger estrogens, so it is a much safer to go for Estriol for the bioidentical hormone-replacement therapy than choosing other alternatives.
